We’ve implemented an updated BOR guideline

Curi Holdings, Inc.’s subsidiary insurance companies (collectively “Curi”) do not encourage Broker of Record (“BOR”) changes; however, Curi recognizes that it is part of the business, and it does happen on occasion. Policyholders may want to change their BOR for various reasons.

As a result, Curi permits policyholders to choose their preferred Curi Broker. We have made updates to our BOR. These updates include:

  • Curi recognizes a BOR at the premium indication stage for new business.  We follow a “first in” approach when it comes to honoring who the BOR is for new business whereby whomever submitted the required underwriting information/documentation/application for an indication request will be treated as the BOR.
  • Binding new business will constitute a BOR for the upcoming policy term. Curi will allow and honor a BOR letter no later than the policy’s effective date. The broker on the effective date is the BOR, the servicing producer, and will receive commissions for the policy term.

See the complete BOR Guidelines for details.

Cyber

Curi is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive portfolio of insurance coverages and services tailored to your clients' needs. As the cyber landscape has evolved, we recognize that specialized coverage is best managed by a dedicated cyber provider. To ensure your clients receive the expertise and support required to navigate today’s complex risks, Curi will discontinue offering our embedded cyber insurance coverage in new or renewed policies issued on or after July 1, 2025.

We are hosting two broker webinars to explain the change and resources we have to assist you and your impacted clients. The content will be the same for both sessions. Please join us for one or both of the following webinars. See Email with Details.

NEW RESOURCES

Helping Clients Demystify the Litigation Process

Navigating litigation can be challenging and stressful for your clients, but Curi is here to help. From blogs and videos to downloadable guides, our program breaks down the entire litigation process, including the roles of key professionals, depositions, mediation, trials, and more.

Through our partnership with Dr. Gita Pensa, creator of the podcast “Doctors and Litigation: The ‘L’ Word,” we also offer your Curi clients a CME video series. Dr. Pensa’s expert insights further support them with actionable advice and stress-reducing strategies. We invite you to visit the Litigation HUB to explore the resources and share them with your clients.

We invite you to watch the recording of the broker webinar held on February 5, with Curi’s SVP of Claims, Kristi Wright, Dr. Carolyn Anctil, Curi’s Chief Medical Advisor, and Dr. Gita Pensa, who shared details about Curi's new litigation education program and how the litigation process can impact a client.

New Risk Resource: HIPAA Prerequisite for Sharing
Reproductive Health-Related PHI

As of December 23, 2024, all physicians, regardless of specialty, are required by law to refrain from sharing information with requestors that is “potentially” related to reproductive healthcare without first obtaining a compliant attestation. Due to recent efforts to make PHI more broadly accessible across a patient’s care team, the OCR’s new Final Rule will likely affect clinicians and organizations beyond the primary care and OB-GYN specialties.

DON'T MISS OUT

Client Benefit: Open Payments & Exclusion List Reporting

We have updated resources available on Curi client benefits provided through our partnership with Venops. New user instructions have been added to our website, and we've created a new shareable flyer.

Reminder: Enhanced Open Payments reporting, combined with federal and state exclusion list monitoring, gives your clients access to consolidated reporting for two important programs, offered at no additional charge, as a benefit of being a Curi Insurance client.

Open Payment Reporting

Since its inception in 2014, the CMS open payments database has made all payments to physicians from pharmaceutical and medical device companies available to the public in a searchable format. Venops provides your clients with enhanced access to Open Payments data, giving them an early look so they can be prepared to respond and rectify any potential cases of erroneous information.

Exclusion List Reporting

To help our client practices and organizations keep up with federal and state exclusion lists, Curi provides access to a monitoring service through Venops. This service will allow them to:

  • Track their providers, employees, and vendors against the relevant federal and state exclusion list every month
  • Send them a monthly report to help them stay compliant
  • Archive their monthly tracking reports on the Venops website

We have a broker only webinar recording as a refresher on these services. And a downloadable flyer you can share with your Curi insurance clients.

Additional information on these services is available to our clients behind login at curi.com.

Disclaimer: Curi Insurance is pleased to offer payment and exclusion list reporting services to medical practices. Curi Insurance has arranged for external partner Venops to provide these reporting services to Curi’s medical professional liability policyholders and clients. Venops and Venops’s employees are solely responsible for any advice and any content/resources Venops provides. Curi Insurance and Venops cannot and do not offer legal or tax advice; therefore, if you or your practice are in need of either, please consult your independent or corporate lawyer or tax professional.
