We'd like to share a few Curi updates about products and services designed to simplify things for you and your clients.
2026 Rate Strategy
Each year, we conduct a review of our premium rates to ensure we best align with current market trends. Our overall rate needs have slightly improved throughout 2025, and we expect an increase among the Physician and Hospital business to be in single digits across our footprint in 2026. As a result, here are a few specific rate updates and pending filings:
Georgia: Effective May 1, 2025, we increased our MPL rates for our Georgia medical practice members. The filed change includes a 2.8% base rate increase, an additional 9% increase for Territory 2 (Fulton, Cobb, Dekalb, Gwinnett, and Clayton counties), and a 10 - 15% increase to the corporate entity charge.
New Jersey: Effective October 1, 2025, we will increase our MPL rates for our New Jersey medical practice members. The filed change includes an 8% base rate increase and the removal of the cap on the corporate entity charge up to 10%.
Pennsylvania: Effective December 1, 2025, we will increase our MPL rates for our Pennsylvania medical practice members. The filed change includes an 8% base rate increase.
Curi remains committed to supporting our physician clients in all markets. Your dedicated Broker Services team member will reach out to you soon to discuss your individual accounts and provide guidance on viewing account information in PHS and/or MyAccount.

Complete Transparency: View coverage details, billing history, and claim status in real-time. Track case files and access credentialing reports instantly when needed.
Enhanced Security: Multi-factor authentication and secure connections protect sensitive information while providing confidence in every transaction.
As you may recall from previous communications, Curi will discontinue offering our embedded cyber insurance coverage in new or renewed policies issued on or after July 1, 2025.
For efficiencies and in an effort to ensure all impacted policyholders receive the formal notifications, the notification of the non-renewal of the embedded cyber coverage will be included in the policy renewal bundle instead of a separate mailing for all policies with a renewal date of January 1, 2026, or later.
The removal of Curi's embedded cyber coverage will not impact the client’s higher limits policy until it is up for renewal. At that time, they will have the option to renew their higher limits policy directly with Tokio Marine HCC or explore other cyber coverage options with Coalition or another cyber insurer of their choice. Both Tokio Marine HCC and Coalition will provide options to adjust the deductible for their increased limits policy, as well as revised pricing, since the embedded coverage will no longer serve as the deductible.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court rescinded the venue reform rule effective January 1, 2023. Since then, plaintiffs have once again been able to “forum shop” and file lawsuits in counties they believe to be more favorable, such as Philadelphia or Allegheny County, even if care was provided elsewhere.
In late 2023, Curi recommended that Pennsylvania practices administering care outside Philadelphia or Allegheny County add a venue/forum selection consent clause to their annual patient documentation.
On July 30, 2025, the Superior Court of Pennsylvania issued a unanimous decision in Somerlot v. Jung, upholding a forum selection clause in a medical malpractice case. The plaintiffs originally filed the suit in Philadelphia, but the court ruled the case must proceed in Bucks County due to the agreement signed at the time of care.
While this is encouraging, there are limitations. Courts may still scrutinize these agreements carefully and may not enforce them in all situations—particularly in Wrongful Death cases, where beneficiaries (not the patient) bring the claim.
If your client’s practice has not yet implemented a forum selection clause or needs updated verbiage, we have prepared three sets of resources to utilize depending on where the practice operates.
November Elections
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court unilaterally rescinded venue reform in medical malpractice cases with a single-page order, effective January 1, 2023. The effect of venue reform recission was immediate and sustained: Lawsuits filed against healthcare providers in the city of Philadelphia have more than doubled on an annual basis compared to the number of filings in 2022, and are significantly higher than the filings in any of the six years before 2022.[1] As a result, Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court has perched atop the American Tort Reform Association’s annual list of American Judicial Hellholes for two years running.
On November 4th, three PA Supreme Court justices who helped rescind venue reform are on the ballot for a “yes” or “no” vote. A majority vote of "yes" means the current justices stay on the court for 10 more years. A majority of "No" means they're out at the end of the year, the Governor picks a temporary replacement, and we get a new competitive election in 2027. We are encouraging our PA clients to participate in the upcoming election.
